The Cumann na mBunscol boys hurling competition got underway on Wednesday last, 2nd October, in Tourlestrane, Co. Sligo, brought forward a day to avoid the threat of Storm Lorenzo.
Corballa met Banada in their first match, who has just played and been victorious against Castlerock so it was Corballa who had the fresh legs. It was a challenging game with Corballa having the upper hand, stretching their lead in the first half and maintaining it for the 2nd despite the valiant attempts of the Banada team.
Next followed a thriller against Castlerock, now rested following their previous loss to Banada. Castlerock edged ahead in the first half, despite the best efforts of the Corballa boys to convert their opportunities. However, they regrouped at half time, and fought back determinedly, finally eking out a victory by a mere point.
Congratulations to the Corballa boys and thank you to both Banada and Castlerock teams for two great games. Onwards to the semi-finals…
