Staff and students of Corballa N.S. were treated to a fine feast of culinary delights on Wednesday 18th December, as 6th class peeled, chopped, whisked, mixed, beat, baked, blended, boiled, fried, seasoned, sliced, diced and cooked up a storm in the kitchen, under the watchful eyes of our kitchen fairies Mrs Gilvarry and Mrs Anderson, serving up a fantastic 3 course meal throughout the day. Reminiscent of the bible story of the loaves and fishes, they provided for the large crowd before them, serving a full 3 courses to 22 lucky diners and a taster menu to the remaining 90+.
For some, it was their 1st time to prepare and cook a meal but for all, their 1st time to cater for so many.
It was a tremendous success and hats off (only after cooking is finished!) to the 6th class students, who took to this task with 100% commitment and dedication. They organised their work groups, researched the menu, found the recipes, took the orders, scaled up for the numbers dining, divided up the tasks, budgeted for and funded the ingredients, provided the utensils and toiled away tirelessly in the kitchen. (Thanks also to Muddy Burns for bailing us out with a few missing utensils along the way!)
Best of all, they got to reap the benefits of their own hard work afterwards…
