Boys win Hurling County Title 2023 !!

More huge congratulations to the super athletes who endured the heat in 2 close, hard fought encounters today to win the Hurling County title for the 4th year in succession! Calry put it up to us with a massive game in the semifinal that ended level at the end of normal time, with Corballa just edging ahead by 3 points in the 2nd half of extra time.

The boys then had a short rest as their counterparts took on the girls from Ballymote. Corballa girls put up a brave fight but were held off by a strong Ballymote team and we wish them luck in the final against Geevagh tomorrow.

Finally the Corballa boys took on the talented group of hurlers from Banada in the A final. It was over and back throughout with many excellent scores on both sides in the strong Sligo sun, but Corballa dug in deep, putting up a great defense and ekeing out some big scores to win by a point in the end. A hard day for Banada and commiserations to this brave young team. Thanks to John Hughes for the presentation of medals and plate and referee Pat Maguire for his stewardship on the day. But massive congratulations to our boys led by co-captains Mark and Eamon. A special mention to Luke for his tremendous work rate during both games ably assisted by the rest of the 5th and 6th class boys – Pádraig, Tyler, Jack, James, Cillian, Darragh and Niall. We had Nicole on standby ready to jump in if needed and were missing players Cathal, Caolan and Rachel who had all played their part in the earlier group stages. And we know Ava would have given it her all, were it not for her injury. Well done everyone great skill and well deserved, we are very proud of you. Enjoy the win 🏆
